It is with great anticipation that we welcome all of you again to another Island Roohu Blog and hearty thanks to all our dear Finolhu Islanders who worked outstandingly to make this collaboration possible. Finolhu and the Maldives Autism Association present: Maldives Autism Charity Run/Walk
Finolhu Baa Atoll contributes to sustainable development by delivering social benefits to support the Maldives Autism Association. On 22nd April 2018, we organized a Charity Run/Walk for Islanders and Guests that started from 1 OAK Beach to Fish & Crab Shack (long sandbank) and return.
We supported the Maldives Autism Association by selling their t-shirts and caps to our Islanders and Guests. The proceeds of this event goes directly to the Maldives Autism Association to support their cause in raising awareness about Autism, providing a more stable school program for children having Autism at the same time, educating the society and parents.
Finolhu Baa Atoll, Maldives Kanusan Restaurant was recently nominated for 2018 The World Luxury Restaurant Awards and Amilla Fushi Javvu Spa was nominated for 2018 The Best Spa in the World Luxury Spa.
With these recent world-renowned recognition and nomination, we encouraged our Islanders to vote by organizing a two-day event registration and voting. Their registration to our official blog site as a platform in displaying our Heart of the House events, recognition and awards to our Islanders and many more.
We served Maldivian short eats, popcorn and gave away Magnum ice creams to everyone who signed up.
Jalsa – March Awards & Recognition
Our monthly Jalsa was held inside The Diner with Marc Reader, Resort Manager and all Islanders. This is in recognition of all our Islander’s dedication to their hard work in making our Guests happy and satisfied during their experience in our Resort.
We shared a good afternoon snack after Jalsa.
First Aid Training
Medplus recently conducted a First Aid Training and Awareness for selected Islanders in Finolhu Baa Atoll last April 16-17, 2018. All 33 participants successfully completed the training, which consists of a lecture and actual demonstration on how to respond in any emergency crisis. They were also taught on how to use the AED, Automated External Defibrillator.
Easter Sunday Lunch @ The Diner
Our F&B Kitchen Team prepared very delicious mouthwatering food options to celebrate Easter Sunday last April 1, 2018.
We would like to thank our awesome F&B Kitchen Team for making sure that our Islanders are happy with the meal options that they have served for everyone.

Sinhala-Tamil New Year Celebration
We celebrated Sinhala and Tamil New Year together with our colleagues from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and India last 14 April 2018.
Our F&B Kitchen Team prepared a special lunch buffet and dinner with local food options prepared by our chefs.

Coffee with RM @ Baa Baa Beach Diner
Our monthly Coffee with Resort Manager was held 24th April in the Islander Diner. The below Islanders were nominated by their Department Heads to have an afternoon coffee with our Resort Manager, Marc Reader.
This will give chance for everyone to sit down with our Resort Manager and discuss freely with any topic that they would suggest to improve the operations to enhance guest experience and as well as discussions to improve the back of house operations.

FINOLHU Firefighting Team on the Move
To ensure that our Security Team is consistently prepared for any emergency, we regularly conduct Firefighting training. Last 11th April 2018, Kiran Gurung – Security Supervisor led his Team by starting their warm up session with some warm up sessions to prepare the Team. They completed their training by teaching the Team on how to use the fire hose.

Family Beach Fun Challenge @ Baa Baa Beach
As part of our Easter Celebration, our Recreation Team organized a Beach Fun Challenge with the help of our Management Team for our Guests to enjoy the basking sun in Baa Baa Beach.
Everyone enjoyed every bit of the challenges prepare like sack race, egg relay, fill the bottle and many more.

Easter Egg Hunting with Alice in Wonderland Theme @ Palm Beach
Easter Dinner @ Baa Baa Beach Diner
In the celebration of Easter, Guests were treated to a very special family beach dinner on the eve of Easter Sunday, 31 March 2018. All tables were laid on the beach and the whole Baa Baa Beach Diner was full of Alice in Wonderland decorations. The Gypsy Queens (live band) performed during dinner and The Riffs Band continued the entertainment performances after dinner at 1 OAK Beach Club.

Best of Fish & Crab Shack
Due to the high demands of Full Moon BBQ last 3 April 2018, the Management decided to host another Fish & Crab Shack dinner featuring the best dishes of the restaurant. We had 71 guests in total who enjoyed their mouthwatering dinner and DJ Simon & Area 51 entertained them.

F&B Kitchen Monthly Departmental Communication
Monthly Team meetings are valuable for recognizing and celebrating achievements and keeping the kitchen brigade informed of important company and departmental information. The chefs were able to discuss a number of regular company initiatives and news, such as revenue results, upcoming Jalsa, back of house events, etc.
