Message from the General Manager


Dear Islanders,

Time flies and we are at the third edition of our blog. The main happening in the staff village was the opening of Malaafaiy, our new staff restaurant. We are also completing a number of other projects and improving our facilities.

It is a crucial time of the year when we welcome a number of travel agents in familiarization visit and who go back with confidence and enthusiasm in recommending Huvafen Fushi to their clients. Our sales team is also reaching out for new business partners as well as consolidating the existing relationship with our established ones. We are strengthening our image for the present and the future.

In the meantime let’s keep our focus on our guest and on our business.

7th – 8th May 2018

The Food Handler Training is a 7-hour course conducted by NSURE® Private Limited which is designed for team members who are responsible for the receiving, preparing and serving of food.

A written exam was given after the training to test the knowledge and understanding of the participants. Out of 17 participants, 5 team members stood out with merit scores.


All participants who passed the exam will receive a Food Handler’s Certificate with the validity of  2 years.


It’s very important for our food handlers to be aware about food allergy and to take it      seriously. This is because when someone eats a food they are allergic to, even the tiniest amount, this can cause a very severe life threatening allergies, known as anaphylaxis, which is a great concern to the food & beverage industry.



13th – 14th  May 2018

Our new team members’ role is critical in fulfilling our cultural essence of “A Sensory Awakening” and as we continue to evolve we need to ensure that we bring the best experience to our team members from the very beginning.

We all know that starting a new job can be daunting. The New Hire Orientation Programme is designed to provide information about Huvafen Fushi that will help our new team members transition smoothly into their roles.

Four new team members completed their 2 days New Hire Orientation Programme where they had a chance to tour our beautiful island and see it’s stunning facilities.

Let’s all welcome them to our Dream Team and wish them a wonderful career here at Huvafen Fushi.

sma.pngSamahath or more commonly called by her peers as Sam has always maintained a very positive and friendly attitude      towards all team members. Her skills are not limited to the working space. Sam is a hard worker and always tries to create a positive ambiance. She’s a people person and is one of the best chefs in Huvafen’s culinary team.


What is your favorite thing about Huvafen Fushi?

The dream team! The exposure of working at a multicultural environment. Yet the friendliness of everyone. People come from all corner of the world but at the end of the day we all are one team of this dream island.

 What is the best thing about your role?

The chance to be creative everyday! Being able to work with an array of fresh ingredients, the care taken to even to put one small plate of food, that gives a memorable  experiences to the guests!

 What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?   

You only stand a chance, if you take one! -A lecturer-

 How would your friends describe you?

I hope it would be friendly and helpful

 What is a skill you’d like to learn and why?

Sketching and painting. Let’s say it gives a freedom to express one’s wildest imagination in a creative way but yet keep the real meaning safe by you

 How do you spend your free time?

Usually at the staff area with friends, playing or just having a good laugh

 Why did you choose this profession?

This career gives me an opportunity, to work while learning and expand my knowledge, build with a fantastic team and at the same time, the chance to pursue my career along the line of my passion.

 If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

Italy! Even the country name screams of pizza, pasta and gelato! But the Italian cuisine goes hand in hand with a breathtaking landscape and culture that offers a great hospitality.

 If you could switch your job with anyone else within this company, whose job would you want and why?

Marine Biologist. I always thought the deep of the ocean harbors a whole another world, which is mesmerizing and to be able to take care, world be great privilege.

 Would you rather be popular or smart? Why?

Definitely smart. Because your intelligence earns you the respect, and describe a good character trait you have. It makes you popular in all the right ways to build up yourself.


Picture5.pngBommanakar or  Ananda to his friends, has been consistent in demonstrating his job-specific knowledge and technical skills. He creates measurement to make sure there is always  progress being made in  achieving a specific goal.  Ananda is also always ready to take on  additional responsibilities whenever it comes. Such as  taking part of the linen runner’s duty whenever the linen runner is off or on leave.

Calling family, watching movies.

I am interested to do.

England to see the Historic places.

I believe that I am fit for all the areas if I willing to do. “If I can DREAM it, I can DO it.”

 Would you rather be popular or smart? Why?

This is tough question but I am always to be smart.


Picture6.pngInwar has excellent leadership quality for managing the team most especially during the absence of the Spa Manager. She helps keep the team morale positive by ensuring that the spa operation is running smoothly and   stress-free even on busy days. Inwar is also an excellent trainer.


What and where was your first job ever?

My first job ever I was a nurse attendant in a private hospital in Brookes Point Palawan, Philippines.

 What does this recognition mean to you?

It means a lot to me. I really appreciate the spa team for their support and my Manager who’s always shares her knowledge. Without them I cannot achieve my goal.

 How do you motivate others?

I will inspire others to be positive and keep smiling to everyone in time of difficulties. And it will creates positive reaction.

 What accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am proud the most when I was promoted.

 Tell us about a time you did the right thing at work and no one saw you do it.

Sometimes after closing I work late at night to complete reports.

When you are having a bad bay, what do you do to make yourself feel better?

To make myself better every time I have bad day, the best thing to do is to listen some of my favorite music and singing. Afterward the mode will be back to normal.

How do you evaluate success?

Set a goal and focus on it no matter what until you reach success.

What is most rewarding about your job; what makes it all worthwhile?

The most rewarding about my job is when my guest appreciated of what I have done and heard saying, “the best massage they ever had”.

 Would you rather be liked or respected? Why?

I would rather be respected. As a Head-therapist to establish respect to my guest base on my ability and knowledge I would listen and find solution to their concern. I would to be liked too. I want them to WOW the service I have given.

 If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

I wanna be like Jesus Christ in his attitude and character. I admired him even though he was persecuted he remain humble.


You have proven to everyone what quality work is all about. The wheels of your career are spinning in full speed. Congratulations! Keep going and don’t hit the brakes now.



TOWN HALL MEETING – 10th May 2018

Town Hall Meeting is one of our regular activities which happens every 10th of the month. During this event recognitions, awards and certificates are given to the nominees and winners of the Team Member of the Month for the month.



The team members gathered and together, helped each other clean the back of house in preparation of the upcoming Ramadan.


MAAHEFUN 15th May 2018

Maahefun Celebration marks the beginning of Ramadan, where the Muslims in the Maldives celebrate the taking of their last meal before beginning the month-long fasting. It is a traditional  celebration where everybody gathered to have their last meal before fasting.



Himmafushi & Huraa – May 2018

It’s a Maldivian culture that they go different places for Iftar during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Resort opens this chance to all our Muslim team members to join a trip to experience a different place for iftar and there will be selected 4 trips to different islands during the month.


QUIZ COMPETITION – 18th May 2018

Quiz Competition is organized and arranged by HR  Department and an open chance to all departments to participate.

6 departments with 2 pax in each team participated in the Quiz Competition and all the questions was arranged based on our Resort Product Knowledge.


Housekeeping department got the highest score among all the other participants and a Pizza voucher is issued for the winners by our Front Office Manager, Ms. Fathmath Afeef (Matty).


OPENING OF MALAAFAIY (New Canteen –  26th May 2018)

The long awaited “one day” is finally here!.

Today we have finally inaugurated our new canteen, “Malaafaiy” and will be open at your service at all meal hours.

The name Malaafaiy has been selected among all the wonderful ideas submitted by all our Team Members which was then shortlisted and    finalized by our Management Team. Thank you, Joy, and Amjad for  submitting this suitable name for our newly built canteen.


Malaafaiy, is a traditional lacquered round wooden plate that is used to provide a number of dishes served together in one for grand celebrations.

This traditional name is chosen referring our new  canteen as one grand “Malaafaiy” presented to our Team Members at every meal, offering an array and selection of dishes, by our chefs, for all our team to feast in one place and celebrate the bond of our Huvafen family.

Finally, the most important work done behind the closed doors, Coastline Hotels & Resorts Pvt Ltd, Construction Company Safe Builders, our    Kitchen and Engineering team, who worked hard at an outstanding pace to finish and make this a reality for all of us during this auspicious month.

Thank you all team members, who voluntarily assisted in all the setup and cleaning and preparation for the inauguration.


We certainly hope that you will all enjoy our Malaafaiy, its surrounding views and have a good and memorable time with our whole Huvafen Family.


20th May 2018 — 03rd June 2018

Ramadan Futsal Cup is an event that the resort organize among all the Team Members during Ramadan period every year. This year we have 8 teams who participated with a total of 75 players. All the matches were  played in the evening after Tharaweeh prayer.

The first round matches was played between 4 teams in group A & B and the best 2 teams from each group A and B went to the semi-final.

Semi-Final 1st match was played between Team Heena and Team Nine Two and semi-final second match was played between Team Wadde and Team Aiman.


GRAND IFTAR & DINNER 29th May 2018

Monthly Theme Party by F & B Service Team

Food & Beverage Service Department hosted a Grand Iftar &  Dinner at our signature Restaurant, “Feeling Koi”.  A Magic Show was also arranged by the F&B Service team to amaze and delight our team members while enjoying their dinner.

The night was filled with delicious food & drinks, amazing magical performances with fun and laughter. It was indeed a wonderful evening for all our Team Members.



The Playpen is newest room category of Huvafen Fushi. It is  a Luxury  Maldives Penthouse with a unique clever exemplar of vintage nostalgia meets Modern Parisian living areas.

The playpen is an 800 square meter open plan living space complete with lounge, dining areas, entertainment deck and an elevated master bedroom, featuring  an oversized ocean view bath, private steam and sauna wet area and balcony overlooking the black lava stone infinity pool (60 meter square) , which is Burgundy floodlit as the sun sets over the house reef.

ADDITIONAL FACT! The Playpen was designed  & Inspired by Mark Hehir CEO of The Small Maldives Island Co.
